The COVID-19 pandemic meant that retailers at Queensland’s Hope Island Marketplace were left with very few options, other than cost-prohibitive third-party services, to reach potential customers. In response, CBRE Brisbane Property Management retail marketing team developed a “click and collect” online tool to help food and beverage operators reach customers during the COVID-19 crisis.
Remarkably, the team built this web-based initiative from concept to go-live in just nine days for the owner of Hope Island Marketplace. The platform is in the pipeline for another 10 Australian retail centers in Queensland and Victoria.
The tool is free for retailers to use and 100% of the customer’s money goes to the retailer, rather than paying a 35% commission to a third-party delivery service. That means Australia’s “mum and dad” operators, who can’t afford to use third-party platforms, can now reach customers online.
"CBRE’s Marketing Team in Brisbane came up with the innovative idea of creating an online platform for my tenants at Hope Island Marketplace, to allow them to have the ability to take orders online via the center website. Not only did this assist greatly with tenants’ trade, it created a basis for an ongoing new channel for customers to access the center’s food and product offerings conveniently and safely during this pandemic."
