The office market was strong in 2006, with steady demand for offices in the 130 to 400-sq. m bracket. The supply of used offices is being depleted due to the lack of new schemes. New buildings are in great demand, especially for purchase, but supply should be replenished in mid-2008. The market in light industrial premises remains active, with strong demand from companies the majority of which look for new premises in the 150 to 800 sq. m bracket. More than two thirds of transactions involved new buildings. The warehouse market performed fairly well and the bulk of transactions concerned used buildings. Caen suffers from a shortage of available land for industrial, office and retail schemes.
