"Performing proper valuations requires certain humility and maintaining the necessary distance. We make it a priority to find ways to improve and harmonize valuation principles and practices and stay apprised of changes to integrate in our valuation work.
I am an active participant in professional organizations. For instance, I regularly contributed to discussions to set up Organismes de Placement Collectif Immobilier (OPCI) [real estate investment trusts] in France. The project required compliance with legislation applicable to new investment vehicles. I also coordinated drafting of the General Real Estate Surveyors’ Charter and contributed to defining The European Group of Valuers’ Associations (TEGoVA) European norms, which have become standards in the business.”
